The instructors know their subjects very well and really make themselves available to help you if needed. ![]() It is really great that mentors have a degree in your area, and my mentor was so much like me that she understood who would work better with me. My mentor did a great job of guiding me and intervening when necessary. In the beginning I needed a lot of help from tech support and only 3 times within my entire 18 month experience did I get individuals that were less than helpful. It was tough going back to school after so many years, but what WGU does well is they hire great faculty! After clearing cobwebs out of my head and the right encouragement and help from my mentor, instructors, and technical support I was able to persevere and succeed. I no longer grapple with imposter syndrome, nor am I uncertain about the knowledge gaps I once had. Studying at W.G.U for Computer Science has elevated my knowledge to match that of my peers who also underwent formal education. After completing my BSCS here, I've come to realize the extent of what I didn't know about the field prior to enrolling. In the end, it's all about putting in honest effort. The same principle applies to project-based courses if you don't meet every requirement, your work will be returned. Otherwise, you'll need to grasp the material thoroughly and retake it. As usual though, if you study diligently, you should pass. Comp Sci and Math classes here are challenging (I say this as an Electrical Engineering major), and exams are still exams. Ultimately, it's up to the student to extract as much knowledge as they can. ![]() I believe the material is a common standard, as they utilize sources such as the well-known "Dinosaur Book" for the Operating Systems course. The personnel and support system with respect to program mentors, enrollment counselors, and instructors are also outstanding. The instruction and material covered are terrific. Five year professional software engineer prior to the Computer Science Bachelor's Program and learned more than I ever thought I would.
